So I didn’t get three days in a row. But three posts in four days still ain’t bad.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell issued the penalties for the Saints Bounty program. Former Defensive Coordinator Greg Williams (now with the Rams) is suspended indefinitely. As the main guy behind this, he may deserve this. I think one year would have been better, but it had to be more than what Head Coach Sean Payton got. Payton got a one year suspension which I believe is overkill. General Manager Mickey Loomis is suspended for 8 games and assistant coach Joe Vitt got 6 games. Perhaps those were appropriate. The team also lost a second round pick this year and next year. (They traded this year’s first round pick last year.) Those may be appropriate. The only one I really believe Goodell went overboard on was Payton for a whole year.

The other part of the story is that former player and now analyst Warren Sapp says former Saints Tight End Jeremy Shockey was the ‘snitch’ who ratted out the team to the league. Shockey denies it. If Shockey really is innocent then Sapp owes him a big apology as Shockey is getting plenty of negative feedback on Facebook and Twitter. Of course if it’s true, then yeah, he deserves it.

If I were Benson, I would not be voting in favor of anything positive for Goodell. If Goodell shows up in New Orleans for the Superbowl, there may be riots. Shockey played for the Panthers last season but is currently a free agent. Curious if he’ll end up on a team the Saints play. And I wonder if they’ll be a bounty on him.

Benjamin Butler is known as the most hated man in Louisiana history. Ginger Berrigan and James Perry are probably the most despised people among St. Bernardians in recent memory. Goodell (or maybe Badell (Good-ell vs. Bad-ell)) will now be on the top of that list for some time.

In 6 seasons with the Saint Quarterback Drew Brees has gotten screwed out of MVP at least twice. If he gets the Saints into the playoffs this year with all of the adversity the team is facing, then there will be no question who deserves the MVP. Hopefully the sign him to a long term contract, and do so before April 1.

Maybe I’ll start blogging again on a regular basis. Probably not.

This weekend is the Louisiana Crawfish Festival which is taking place in Chalmette, LA. It runs from Thursday through Sunday. I run the festival’s website. My Knights of Columbus council will also be running a booth selling Crawfish Creole. So if you get a chance stop by a buy a bowl.

Sarah is almost 15 months. She’s almost walking. She took 7 steps before falling down the other day. But she crawls so well, she’s less motivated to learn how to walk. I was sitting with her on the stairs at my parent’s house and we discovered she can go up stairs. Not ready to let her try going down the stairs yet though. She’s saying a few words. I’m “da Da-Da” and Robin is “ma Ma-Ma”. She also talks about “na Na-Na”. Sarah is also pretty strong she can pick up and move things you wouldn’t expect. At a Christmas Eve party, she picked up a (very light) bar stool completely off the ground. And she’s only getting stronger.

I can’t think of anything else to write about now. You think we’ll get a post three days in a row?

I found a few scripts that came close, but none did exactly what I needed. I found a script called DOMPDF which generated PDF’s from HTML pages. After a lot of fiddling with measurements, I got it working. And now I’m going to share it with everyone else. (You’ll need to download DOMPDF for it to work.) Download the source code here.

Following up in the last post….

Sarah was born on Dec. 26 at 4:19pm. We said we did not want to spend Christmas Day in the hospital. God accommodated. Robin started experiencing back pain that morning. She called the doctor and they told her to come in so we did. They said it was a contraction and that she could wither wait until the 28th (the originally planned date for a C-section) or do it that day. We looked at each other and said that day.

She’s been keeping us up a lot, but the past few days she is starting to sleep for longer periods of time.

Robin and I did buy a house in Meraux, across the street from my parents. So except for 3 years after Katrina, I have lived on the same street my entire life.

We adopted a kitten a few weeks ago. We named her Sweetie.

Robin was pregnant but lost the baby due to the RH Factor. Robin is RH-, I’m RH+, and the baby was RH+ and that result in problems between Robin’s blood and the baby’s blood. It will happen eventually but we won’t tell everyone as quick next time as we don’t want to get everyone’s hopes up again.

Not much else going on.

Well while I’m at it, I’ll post some political thoughts.

My last post linked to Ron Paul’s Exploratory site. That site turned into www.RonPaul2008.com which has since turned into www.CampaignForLiberty.org . The Campaign For Liberty is holding the Rally for the Republic this week. Too bad the Republicans aren’t allowing Paul to speak at the Covention, but they invited Rudy Giuliani and Joe Lieberman who isn’t even a Republican speak. They deserve to lose, but so do the Democrats. I think Sarah Palin is a good Vice Presidential pick for John McCain. Palin, with some federal level experience, would make a better President than McCain or Obama.

At this point, I am suggesting you vote for either Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party, or Bob Barr of the Libertarian Party. Even Cynthia McKinney of the Green Party or Ralph Nader would be improvements over the choices given to us by the Republicrats. For the record, I will be a Presidential Elector is Congressional District 1 of Louisiana for Chuck Baldwin and Darrel Castle. I don’t know if Alan Keyes’ California supporters are acting on their own or on his behalf, but they have shown they have no integrity and if he supported their actions he also has shown he has no integrity.

There are a number of good candidates running through out the country. B.J. Lawson, House in North Carolina; Bob Bird, Senate in Alaska; Peter Vidrin, House in Louisiana; Bob Conley, Senate in South Carolina; and Darryl W. Perry, (write-in) Senate in Alabama. Most (perhaps all) of these people have an up hill battle, but would be better than the people they would be replacing.

(I don’t think I’ll be posting again for a while. Be glad I posted this.)

I am in Baton Rouge right now (Kirby Smith at LSU where several LSUHSC employees are staying). I’m safe. I know a lot of friends and family evacuated the area. Hopefully we will all be able to go home Wednesday or Thursday. So far it is looking like we made out much better than Katrina.

Blogging is boring, but to anyone that ocaissionally reads this thing, you know I’m ok.

After half a year, I’m finally starting up the blog again.

So wher do I start? Democrats won Congress in November. Maybe it will serve as a wake up all to the Republicans. Saddam Hussein was hung. Good Bye. Ron Paul is running for President. While I admit his chances are slim, I have something to be excited about. I’m sure I’m not the only one sick of Rudy McRomney or Hillary John Barrack Roddam Hussein Clinton Obama Edwards.

I guess the biggest thing happening in my life right now is that in November Robin had a seizure and burnt her hand. Third Degree burns and required a skin graft. She lost parts of her little and ring fingers on her right hand. But she is recovering well and improving faster than expected.

Our Lady of Lourdes in Violet will be opening up sooner or later. The process of reopening it has begun. It may take a while. Robin and I are living in Metairie but will be going there sometimes once it opens. Abbey Youth Fest is this weekend. I still have posted part two of of from last year. I won’t be going as a chaperone from Lourdes but rather as a volunteer from the KC’s since no one showed any interest in going.

Louisiana Crawfish Festival is March 30, 31, and April 1 at the old Wal-Mart in Chalmette.

I switched the blog from bBlog to WordPress. The SQL Dump was close to 30 MB. I kept 5 comments that I knew were good and deleted the rest. I used this script to convert bBlog to WordPress. I have also required regustration to post comments. I know some people may not feel like doing that, but it will help fight the blog spam. I still need to set the lay out to match the rest of the site.

Hopefully it will be less than six months before I post here again. Whenever that is.
